Beacon by Novacraft

Reminders that find you at the right moment.

A reminders app for iPhone and Android that speaks up when you can actually act: as you reach the market, leave home, join Wi-Fi, when the light comes back, or as a deadline closes in.

Coming to the App Store and Google Play. Works without an account.

Five ways a reminder fires

Not just a time. The moment you can act.

Every Beacon reminder carries a signal: the thing that has to happen before it speaks up. Pick one, or stack a few on the same task.

Time

Call Mama at 7pm

At a time, on a date, or every Monday. Times you set follow your phone when you travel, and quiet hours never move them.

Places

Get to the market, and the list is waiting.

  1. Save a place onceDrop a pin or search an address. Home, work, Yaba Market: each one is a circle of at least 150 metres.
  2. Your note rides alongBeacon arms the circle on your phone. Nothing to open, nothing to check.
  3. Cross the circle, get the noteArrive or leave and the reminder lands, usually one to five minutes after you cross.
  4. Or near any pharmacyCategory places fire near any pharmacy, filling station or supermarket, not just one you saved. Part of Pro.

Home Wi-Fi:

Wi-Fi and mobile data

Some jobs wait for Wi-Fi. Beacon waits with them.

Next on Wi-Fi
Fires when the phone joins Wi-Fi that isn’t metered. Good for backups, big downloads and updates.
On mobile data
Fires when you drop to data and stay there for two minutes, so a blink in the network doesn’t set it off. It stays quiet at Home during power cuts.
A place’s own Wi-Fi
Add your home network to Home, so Beacon has one more way to know where you are.

Losing Wi-Fi never counts as leaving.

On iPhone, Wi-Fi reminders run through a one-time Shortcuts automation that Beacon walks you through.

Buttons

Power’s back? Tap once. The list arrives.

Beacon can’t tell when NEPA brings the light back, and it doesn’t pretend to. You get a button instead. Tap “Light is back” on a Quick Settings tile, a widget, Control Center or Siri, and everything you saved for power comes through as one brief.

Name your own buttons too: “I’m home”, “Payday”, “Generator on”.

Light is back: 4 things to do while you have power

  • Iron the school uniforms
  • Charge the power bank
  • Pump water to the tank
  • Run the washing machine

Deadlines that get louder

Closing soon. Last call. Can’t miss.

Give a task the moment it can’t be done after, like a return window or a form that closes on Friday. As the window narrows, Beacon speaks up again, a little louder each time. Mark it Can’t miss and the last call is an alarm.

Missed one anyway? Beacon asks the next morning: did it anyway, extend, or let go. Nothing is deleted without you.

List briefs

One note for the whole errand run.

Tie a signal to a list, and Beacon sends one brief instead of six pings: every item, what it costs and how long it takes. A morning and evening brief tell you what’s due before the day gets away.

Shopping and costs

The market list that adds itself up.

Shopping lists sort themselves by aisle and keep quantities next to each item. Tick things off and they drop into “In the basket” while the total keeps count. Next week, buy again with one tap.

  • Give any task a cost in naira, minutes or your own units
  • See list totals and set a budget
  • Record what you actually spent, and Beacon remembers the price

Shared lists

“I’ll take it.” Then everyone knows.

Share a list with the house. Anyone can claim an item, and their initials go on it, so two people don’t buy the same detergent. Turn on nearest-person alerts and Beacon pings whoever is closest to the shop.

One shared list is free. Sharing needs an account; everything else doesn’t.

Brain dump

Write it all out. Get it back as tasks.

Type everything on your mind in one go. Beacon tears it into separate tasks, with the places, deadlines and Wi-Fi signals it can see, for you to check before anything is saved. Pro

Brain dump needs an account and asks first. The text goes to Beacon’s server, which drafts the tasks with Anthropic’s Claude. We don’t keep the text.

Free and Pro

Most of Beacon is free, for good.

Every feature is on for 14 days from install. After that, Free keeps the essentials, and anything beyond it pauses with a clear label instead of disappearing. Pro is a monthly, yearly or one-time purchase, priced in your currency in the app.

Tap a tag to turn it over. Drag it to give it a swing.

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers.

Does Beacon know when the power comes back?

No, and it doesn’t pretend to. “Light is back” is a button you tap, from a Quick Settings tile, a widget, Control Center or Siri. The tap sends the list you tied to it as one brief.

Do I need an account?

No. Beacon works fully on your phone without one. An account is optional and only needed to sync between devices, share a list or use brain dump.

How quickly do place reminders fire?

Usually one to five minutes after you cross the circle. Your phone decides when to wake Beacon to save battery, and Beacon shows you when an alert came late so you can see it working honestly.

Will place reminders drain my battery?

Beacon uses the phone’s own geofencing, the same system maps and delivery apps use. It doesn’t track you continuously, and visits stay on the phone.

Can I use Beacon on the web?

Yes, for planning, lists and sharing. Place and Wi-Fi reminders still fire from your phone, because a browser can’t watch your location or your network in the background.

What happens when the free trial ends?

Everything is on for 14 days from install. After that Beacon drops to Free, and any reminder beyond Free is paused with a visible label, never deleted.

Which phones does Beacon support?

iPhone and Android, including Tecno, Infinix and Samsung phones. Beacon’s reliability screen tells you which phone settings to change so reminders arrive on time.

Right reminder. Right moment.

Beacon is free to download for iPhone and Android, and it works without an account.
